The link (blue letters that are underlined) below will take you to the web page for the federal government Health Insurance Marketplace. This is the website that will manage the health insurance exchanges provided by the Affordable Care Act signed by President Obama in 2010. This legislation is better known as “Obamacare”. The state of Texas made a decision not to manage the health insurance exchanges but rather allow federal agencies to provide information and access to affordable health insurance.
The link has general information and access to health insurance costs that fits you and your family. At the top of the page is the tab “Get Insurance” – this page will walk you through the steps on pricing health insurance.
**Marketplace help – Health Sherpa is an independent website developed privately to assist in navigating individual insurance plans available in your location. This site will give you a quick review of the plans and cost for you. Once you choose a plan you must register through the website above OR register through the health insurance company of the plan you like (The Health Sherpa provides contact information for each specific plan for which you qualify – click on the “How to Buy” tab). Health Sherpa is an easy and fast way to choose an individual plan for your healthcare needs. Click on the following link (blue letters that are underlined) to open the website in a new window.
